FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions – Beeb Anywhere
Does the application consume data in the background?
If you have enabled ‘Periodic download’ under ‘Settings’, then yes it does. If you do not have ‘Periodic downloads’ enabled then the application will only consume data when you click ‘Update now’ or ‘Update all now’.
How much data does it consume?
It depends on how many categories you have selected, which ‘Download interval’ you have selected, how often the BBC add new stories and how long their stories are.
How can I reduce the amount of data it uses?
Reduce the number of categories you have selected (Menu -> Settings -> Categories), use a larger download interval (Menu -> Settings -> Download interval) for example ‘1 day’ or turn off automatic updates altogether (go to Menu -> Settings, uncheck Periodic download).
How can I keep an eye on my data usage?
Use an application such a NetCounter (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.jaqpot.netcounter)
What can I do if I’m having problems with the app?
Try selecting the ‘Delete all stories’ option from the Settings screen and then do an update.
Can you add BBC F1 Gossip?

Hi Peter
Thanks for the message. It’s easy enough for me to add that in as a new category. But doesn’t the main F1 category always have “today’s” gossip as its last story? Or do you want to see the full week’s worth?
Cheers
Ash
Hi Ash,
True you can access it this way, but I just happen to prefer the way it is possible to access the Football Gossip from the main page.
Cheers,
Pete
Hi Pete, no problem, will add in the next version.
Thanks for the F1 Gossip update Ash.
Much appreciated!
Pete
Hi Ash,
This application is almost perfect, except that it would be great if you could add an option to “Update on WiFi Only”. When I am out for most of the day, I would prefer it if the app did not use any data at all. Otherwise, I have to manually update the app every day before I leave the house 🙂
Cheers,
Dustin
Will there ever be a version for Windows Phones?
No. I’ve even had to stop the Android version now (see other posts).
